Germany Bibliotheca Albertina 2 December 2024 Leipzig is full of beautiful historical sites. One of them is the Leipzig University Library, also known by its Latin name "Bibliotheca Albertina". I come here every day to study German for three hours. I used to study German at home, but I must admit, the atmosphere there isn't particularly conducive to this sort of activity - one is constantly tempted to get distracted or, say, sprawl out on the sofa for a nap. I managed to resist these temptations for a while, but eventually decided that studying in a more suitable environment would be better for me. Entry to the library is free. There are several reading rooms, and I work in one of them. The reading rooms are remarkably quiet - it's rare to hear even a whisper, which makes it an extremely comfortable place to work. The main contingent of the reading room consists of Leipzig University students. Founded in 1543, the Albertina has eleven faculty branches. The library houses 5 million volumes, of which 200,000 are available in open access. The library looks absolutely stunning, both inside and out. If you find yourself in Leipzig, this place is a must-see. Copyright (c) 2024 contact@renecoignard.com Powered by Weblog v1.18.5
