Germany Stuttgart 28 December 2024 For the first time in a while, I've ventured to the western part of Germany, to Stuttgart, to spend quality time with friends and celebrate New Year's together. I spent my first Christmas here in Berlin, so I wanted something different for New Year's. Interestingly, this holiday here is called by the peculiar name "Silvester," after Pope Sylvester I. Instead of "Happy New Year," people here say "Guten Rutsch," which literally translates to "good slide," suggesting one slides into the new year.
